What is BYC?

The Brighton Youth Commission is a great way for youth and adults to get involved with the municipal government of Brighton. This organization can help youth to develop leadership skills, and also allows individuals to make a difference in their community.

Twenty-two youth are given a voice in local government, allowing them to create projects and work on ideas affecting teens.

Adults are also encouraged to participate in The Brighton Youth Commission. Six adult members, including 4 at large community members, one Brighton City Council representative and one School District 27J representative work alongside youth in order to make positive change in our community.  Youth-adult partnerships play a large role in the success of the commission.
